If anyone out there still watches me, sorry if I seemed to have disappeared off the face of the site a few years back. I'm still around, I still browse on occasion, but life has just been kicking my butt so much between work and other distractions, living in a different place than I did in the past with different things to deal with that I've been going through a rather dry period of not wanting to do art. I've been doing a lot of shifts by myself at work for a long time now, at least one a week, and the problem has never stayed fixed for long because we can not seem to find people to work Mondays and Tuesdays. Not to mention being there nine and a half hours out of the day. That combined with a roommate who I enjoy spending time with, but who frequently wants to talk my ear off, I do not get a lot of quite and alone time to myself, and it's been difficult to work up the mental and emotional energy to work on art projects or spend much time replying to comments or my watch feed here. I see all of your lovely things still, sooner or later, but I lack the time and the energy to give complex comments like I used to. The changes to Deviant Art itself have likely not helped.
A lot of the people I knew here packed up and left, or went silent as well, and the community dried up more and more as those in charge of Deviant Art Eclipse continued to fail to provide anything worth the site they had taken over. A few years later, this place still looks bare bones and stark compared to what it was before, and there is still nothing worth buying a core membership for.
With the old Deviant Art gone, I think I lost some of my drive to add pieces to my gallery.
Hopefully one day I will be in a place, literally, mentally, and emotionally where I have the space and desire to create again. If I do, this is still my home base, and I will probably post things here, though this place is a shadow of what it used to be.
If DA is going to force us into using Eclipse come May, they better get their acts in gear and fix a lot of the stuff with Eclipse, because as it is right now, there are still a lot of problems, and we are still lacking a lot of the old things we were capable of doing on old DA, such as embedding images and links properly, being able to use animated gifs, structuring our profiles in a way that make them personalized or meaningful, or favoriting images to folders in a way that is not horribly time-consuming.
I for one have still not seen enough out of this new version of the site to really look forward to the change.
Even this journal feels bland compared to what I could do with old journals and having actual skins instead of just a cover image. Not being able to use CSS created boxes any more is going to be sad...

In this journal's comment section, leave a comment with the following things: 1. A link to your wishlist (a public journal post), with a minimum of 3 prompts.Prompts can be as simple as listing a character or pairing, to as complex as a full scenario. You may ask for fan characters but please keep your options open. Here's an example wishlist from last year, though you can always look at what other people are posting this year to get ideas on how to format your journalWe won't be checking if you edit your wishlist after signing up but remember, after a Santa has been assigned to you, they will be making their pick of prompts soon after so have the list ready by the time assignments go out. 2. Can you be a backup artist? (YES/NO)Backup artists fill in for Santas who can't complete their gifts 3. (If you have nothing in your Deviantart gallery) A link to an art/writing blog of yours as verification that you can participate in the exchange.3. Around November 24, you will be sent a note with your target assignment and their wishlist. We expect you to fulfill one of their prompts at minimum, but you are welcome to do more than one4. You are expected to complete your gift by December 25. If you cannot complete your gift by this day, please send a note to one of the mods. We will discuss your options with you then.5. Send your target a note with their gift, and submit it to the 2019 Robot Rumpus gallery folder. The folder will begin accepting submissions on December 24.And that's all there is to it! PROHIBITED STUFF:In order for the event to run smoothly, we ask that you read this over carefully so that you don't break any important rules. Rulebreakers are subject to temporary/permanent banning, depending on the severity of the offense(EDIT) Due to the increase of quality cameras, we have changed our stance on traditional art photos. If your gift is "traditional art" (stuff that's on paper), you may either scan the picture or- so long as the photo quality isn't too blurry/dark or distorted- take a photo with a camera. Scanning your picture is still the preferred method but we understand that having access to a scanner may pose an issue for some. If you're unsure whether your picture quality will be good enough for the event, you can feel free to post a link with some of your art photos and we'll discuss if the quality is good enough. You can use the following link to help clean up your pictures here.Drawings on lined paper are bannedDrawings using bases/base edits are bannedWe do not tolerate the usage of multiple accounts to receive multiple gifts. If you would like to make more gifts, sign up as a back up artist, or simply browse through people's wishlists and fill those promptsDO NOT sign up with the intention of receiving a gift but not giving one. We WILL find out and ban you from future participationIf you have not received your gift by December 31, send a note to a mod and we will assign a back up artist to you immediately.Notes on Secret Santa assignments:For those curious about how assignments are made, the program being used each year is called The Hat. Basically it takes everyone in a list and randomizes the pairs completely. The only thing actively done is making sure there are no doubles and that nobody is forgotten. It is not sorted by skill level, nor by any other meansWhoever is drawing for you-- no matter what they do for you or how well-- should come as an appreciated surprise. And alternatively, PLEASE be kind to whomever you draw for as well, to respect their wishes and interests. We are an all-encompassing group, as well as all-skill-level friendly. We are all fans of the same thing, and we all love Rockman just as much.IF THERE IS ANYTHING WE MISSED, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK! Your admins are happy to clear up any questions in the journal comments or through notes. This year's admins:...
