I will be taking the time to look over the entries and decide which ones placed. I will announce the winners when I know who they are.

Thank you so, so much to all who entered! All of the pieces are amazing, and I appreciate that so many people took part in my contest! I may very well hold another in the future when I can afford it! ^.^

Contest: Design Ouron's Outfit!

I've been working on this character's design for some time now. Getting his basic appearance to match the character I had come up with was hard enough. I needed something simple, yet at the same time, distinct. And proportions on this type of character was something new as well. Stockier and taller than your average hedgehog, I had to play with how I could manipulate the classic hedgie shape. And making spines resemble dreadlocks...but not look too much like an Echidna....that was its own challenge.
But, I overcame all of those hurdles, only to find that there was one more, far more daunting then the others.

Try as I might, I have not been able to design a good outfit for Ouron.

Contest Objective:

Though for the Ale'nodai-- the people Ouron comes from--clothing is not a necessity, still, it often serves practical purposes, or members of the Clans use it to express themselves.
As such, the objective for this contest is to design an outfit that relates to the character's personality, as well as his culture.

Ouron:

Even among a people who tend to be larger in stature all around, Ouron is considered tall. He often relishes in friendly competition, testing his skills against others of the clans, not only in strength, but in technique as well as in his training as a craftsman. He's willing to lend a hand when others need it, enjoying what some might consider to be hard work and he's always up for the thrill of exploring and hunting. Though strength is one of his top assets, he is rather slow to anger, preferring a jovial outlook on life. His ready sense of humor, strong devotion and a deep care for his clan are some of the things that quickly draw people to him.

The Ale'nodai:

An island people, isolated from the rest of Mobius, the Ale'nodai have developed a tribal culture heavily influenced by the ocean, and the tropical environment that surrounds them. Though peaceful by nature, they are no strangers to the struggles of survival, as their often bountiful home can at times be harsh and unforgiving. All members of the clan are taught basic skills in practical crafts, survival, and hunting. Others have taken to studying more specific professions in their spare time, and the Clans' culture is rich with the fine works of weavers, leather and hide workers, metal workers, carvers, gem crafters and many other artisans.

Here are a couple of examples of outfits I have already made:

Things to keep in mind:

Ouron's outfit should reflect a culture with a Island based, tribal background. Try to consider the materials that might be available to such a people. Things like plant materials, hard and soft leathers, woods, metals, or other things that might be found around an island. His outfit should /not/ have too many influences from modern trends, though, if you can use them in such a way as they fit the theme, they are not off limits.

Try not to base designs too heavily or completely off of pre-existing cultures, as the Ale'nodai are meant to be a culture all their own. It is fine though to draw inspiration from real life sources.

You can also add accessories to his spines.

Ouron himself is rather skilled in leather working and gem crafting.

Contest entries must be completed. I will not accept WIPs
Images need to be in color, but shading is not required. Flat colors are fine.

The outfit must be drawn on the character. This way I can see how it works with his base design, which is the point of the contest.
If you are not an artist who works on the Sonic or similar style, I will also except other styles. I do however need the character to retain his animal traits, or being able to tell if the outfit works with him will be hard.

I would like to have offered art, but I don't really have the time to right now, and I don't know when I will again. So, I've come up with a few other things instead.
